Denis, Alex, and his team did a fantastic job on my project! It was a full gut, bathroom, laundry, and kitchen remodel. I even added a siding replacement on part of the house, along with some wood rot repairs. There were a ton of details throughout the various projects that they helped with or had suggestions on how to complete them, if there was a delay, they were on it, trying to find alternative vendors. If there were any changes or things that I didn't care for, they took care of it. I am very pleased with the final product and Oakwood Remodeling Group. I spent 35 years in the commercial construction industry as a carpenter, superintendent, then president of my own company and later as a senior project and construction manager building mostly offices, hospitals and schools. I know quality work when I see it, and I’m happy to report that Oakwood Remodeling Group does quality work. We contracted with Oakwood to replace out tub/shower with a walk-in shower. Their estimator Denis was courteous and thorough, and after several days clarifying details, he gave us a very competitive and firm price. One great advantage of using Oakwood is that their crews tend to do all the work themselves instead of scheduling and calling in a series of subcontractors. Illya and his helper did the demolition, plumbing, new tile, drywall, electrical and flooring themselves. No waiting for subs. Granite Bay is an unincorporated Placer County community of about 21,673 residents on the western shore of Folsom Lake, at roughly 427 feet. California State Parks operates a Granite Bay entrance to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, and the lake itself holds 1,010,000 acre-feet of water with 75 miles of shoreline when full.

The census decade counts show a community that grew steadily rather than all at once: 23.7% of homes from the 1970s, 16.9% from the 1980s and 24.0% from the 1990s, with 20.1% built since 2000 and 15.3% before 1970. Because Granite Bay is large enough for the survey to be precise, these shares carry narrow margins — the 1970–1999 figure is accurate to within about five and a half percentage points.

Homes of those decades share predictable bathroom traits. Primary baths were commonly laid out around a large drop-in or jetted tub on a raised deck, a separate shower smaller than the room could hold, cultured marble or first-generation granite, and an exhaust fan sized for a smaller room. The structure behind them is generally sound, so the investment goes where it shows: the shower, the stone, the lighting and the layout.

San Juan Water District (state system CA3410021) lists its surface water at 17 ppm in its 2025 Consumer Confidence Report, and on its own site tells customers that because of the very low calcium, magnesium and manganese in its water, they have no need for water softeners. PCWA's Foothill system (CA3110025) reported about 10 mg/L in its 2019 report, the latest in the state's archive, and PCWA classifies its water as soft.

For a luxury bathroom this matters more than it would in a basic one. The finishes that define a high-end room — polished stone, unlacquered brass, large expanses of clear glass — are the ones most damaged by mineral scale and by the acidic cleaners used to fight it. On soft water, the film on glass is soap, which a squeegee handles, and stone only needs sealing and pH-neutral cleaners.

Granite Bay has large parcels, and 6 of the 26 sample points fell outside any mapped public system. If your home is on its own supply, test it before stone and grout are chosen; on private wells, iron rather than hardness is usually the risk to light-colored stone.
