The Challenge

The homeowner was stepping over a tub edge with the help of grab bars clamped to the tub rim, in a narrow bathroom with dark blue walls. The goal was a safe, easy-entry shower without making the room feel like a hospital.

Our Solution

We removed the tub and built a low-threshold shower across the full width of the alcove. The walls are white large-format tile with a recessed niche, the floor is black pebble stone for grip, and the grab bars are now anchored into blocking in the wall. A handheld on a slide bar reaches a seated or standing user, and a fixed glass panel keeps the entry open. The walls were repainted a light neutral and the floor tiled to match.
