The Challenge

The homeowners had a standard 5-foot alcove bathtub with a basic tile surround and vinyl shower curtain that hadn't been updated since the home was built in the mid-1990s. They never used the tub for bathing, only showering, and wanted to convert it into a proper walk-in shower that felt modern and matched recent updates they'd made to other rooms. Budget was a key consideration.

Our Solution

We removed the old alcove tub and converted the space into a beautiful walk-in shower within the same footprint, keeping plumbing costs down. The design features a herringbone-pattern marble-look porcelain tile accent wall that creates a striking focal point, complemented by large-format tile on the remaining walls. A frameless glass door and fixed panel replaced the old shower curtain, and we added a recessed niche with a glass shelf for storage. The combination of fixed and handheld shower heads provides flexibility for daily use.
